What happens during a display?
I use groundwork and ridden excersizes in an arena.
Over an hour and a half I explain my methodology and talk about my gentle method as an alternative to traditional agressive techniques. I show different levels of confidence developing in two or three horses at different levels.
After years of handling horses I have realized the relevance of the horse as a healing and spiritual experience. Different kinds of personal issues arise in humans when faced with the challenges of a horse,
This is a road to gaining an understanding of assertiveness verses aggressiveness. I often see frustration expressed as reactions of anger or victimization.
I realize the horse acts as a bridge to confidence and simply a mirror. Any holes in emotional fitness are revealed and presented as an opportunity for progress.
The spiritual aspect of horses has been whispered about - I talk openly about it and try to give a sense of what this means to me in all aspects of my life.
Being with a horse, we are transported beyond the judgements of society's conciousness for appearances and money - in front of the horse we are our knowledge and heart - stripped bare, we are all equal - that in itself is a healing pure environment, a great place for change to take place.
